Three Branta species occur during the winter on the coast of the Federal Republic of Germany (before reunion): Brent Goose, Barnacle Goose and Canada Goose. This paper compiles their numbers and recent changes in numbers. Besides, it discusses the effects of recent embankments, the development of national parks, shooting, and the carying capacity of the various staging areas.
